COMPAS - Combined Methods for Positron Annihilation Spectroscopy The HZDR offers the most modern positron spectroscopy systems in the world, which convince by their excellent resolution and short measuring time. Positron spectroscopy is a non-destructive method for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of quantitative analysis of material properties on the nanometer scale. Positrons can help you to investigate: atomic vacancies or defects in solids, the free volume in polymers or the pore size in open or closed micro- and mesoporous materials (0.1-100 nm pores). Positron spectroscopy is a non-destructive method for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of material properties on the nanometer scale. Method with the highest sensitivity to defect concentrations and their changes. Only method to characterize free volume in plastics. Allows pore size determination of thin films (5-500 nm) for open and closed pore systems (incl. pore size distribution).
